First Stop at Outdoor Cinema: Here is Your Photo with Da Peng
"I have made a lot of summaries in filming ordinary people, just as ordinary as you and me." On the evening of April 19, 2024, director Dong Chengpeng (also known as Da Peng) shared his creation experience in this way at the Outdoor Cinema of the 14th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF). He also encouraged Deng Fei, guest moderator who played Secretary Fang in Post Truth, as well as other young filmmakers, that "there's never a time when you're ready. Don't hesitate. It's more important to make it."
From a journalist covering the Red Carpet of the 1st BJIFF to the Final Round Jury of the 14th BJIFF Project Pitches, Da Peng never stops his love for films. As he said, the film Honey Money Phony in which he was executive producer is still in the process of shooting, and he would invite, in capacity of director for the first time, the actor Da Peng to star in his directorial film, a costume film that he never played in before.
Speaking of his experience as a jury member of the Project Pitches, he said, "Each jury member is introverted, and I have to be extroverted on the site." He also felt the power of young filmmakers as well as their self-confidence and courage.
At the Q&A session, a child asked him, "Is the cake (in the film) mango-flavored?" Da Peng made him a promise: It must be mango in my next film with a cake in it. This is a secret code between us. Each fan selected to raise a question by director Da Peng and actor Deng Fei received a poster with Da Peng’s autography.
